No Experience = No Job?

If you’re just starting out and trying to find your first job, you can face many challenges. While it is a bit frightening to be in the position to actually be in the job market, it is also the best time to really figure out what you want to do with your career. You are definitely not locked into anything at this point.

So if you have your career direction figured out, then you know what kind of jobs you need to look for. You might find that even entry-level positions “require” a couple years of experience. But if you have no experience, what are you supposed to do?

Don’t give up, that’s the first thing. There are jobs out there for you. You know what else? You have more experience than you probably think. What did you do in college? Any internships? Any organizations you were involved with? Part-time jobs?

Just because a job announcement says that require a couple years experience doesn’t mean they won’t look at someone who doesn’t have that. If you can show them, in your cover letter and your resume, what you can bring to their organization then you have a great chance of getting interviews.

A great resource that can help you write and design your entry-level cover letter and resume is EasyJob Resume Builder. It has a free trial so give it a whirl. It is one of the best resume builders that I’ve seen. I’ve also got an EasyJob Resume Builder review so you can see what it’s all about.
