Salary Negotiation: Want More Money?

When you look for a new job, you obviously want more money than your previous position, right? The CareerBuilder Blog has a great post on what job seekers can do to increase their salaries before you get hired. Graduates: salary negotiation applies to you too.

You can plan on this part of your whole interview process to be somewhat stressful. Why? Well, it’s usually difficult to ask for a raise with your current employer. Just imagine going through that with a company you have no history or experience with. It can be tough but you can get more money if you go about it the right way.

Be prepared and do your research. Don’t go into the meeting expecting to get offered more than you know you should be able to get. Of course it would be nice but most likely it’s not going to happen.

Know your worth, have a range in mind that you can live with and be prepared to prove that you’re worth the extra bit of money that you’re asking for. That’s what salay negotiation is all about.
